CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered a case against one identified accused and two unidentified persons for allegedly assaulting and extorting money from a man at a hotel in Calangute.
According to police, the case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Jay Mukeshbhai Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The complainant alleged that on July 27 at around 3 am, while he was at Hotel Avenue in Calangute, accused Yash Gautambhai Chawala, also a resident of Ahmedabad, along with two unidentified persons, allegedly assaulted him with slaps and a waist belt, abused him using filthy language, and extorted ₹70,000 by threatening him over a previous enmity.
Police have registered the offence, and a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been issued to the accused, Yash Gautambhai Chawala.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Paresh P. Sinari.
