MARGAO: Margao Town Police arrested a 25-year-old man after allegedly catching him with 4.171 kg of ganja near the District Library at Navelim during a late-night narcotics operation.
According to police, LPSI Aanushka Parab received reliable information at around 11.31 pm on August 1 that a person identified as Mohammad Azharuddin would arrive near the District Library, Navelim, between 1.30 am and 2.00 am on August 2 to deliver narcotic drugs to prospective customers.
Acting on the tip-off, LPSI Parab, along with a team from Margao Town Police Station, laid a trap near the library. At around 1.48 am, the suspect was intercepted and found in possession of 4.171 kg of suspected ganja valued at approximately ₹5,00,520.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Azharuddin Nurmohammad (25), son of Sabana Bundihal and a resident of Caraswado, Mapusa.
An FIR has been registered under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
