PERNEM: Pernem Police have arrested a 28-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted a complainant with an aluminium armoured cable following a dispute over rash driving at Dhargal.
According to police, the offence was registered on April 5, 2026 at 10:00 pm based on a complaint filed by Krishna Mandrekar (54), a resident of DMello Waddo, Saligao. The incident reportedly occurred earlier in the evening around 5:30 pm at Oxelbag, Dhargal in Pernem.
Police stated that the accused, identified as Gaurav Konadkar (28) of Oxelbag, Dhargal, allegedly abused the complainant and his employee Rakib Mandal (25), a native of West Bengal, using filthy language after being questioned about rash driving. The accused then allegedly assaulted both with slaps and fist blows.
The complainant further alleged that the accused struck him on the head with an aluminium armoured cable, causing bleeding injuries. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill the complainant and his employee.
Police placed the accused under arrest at 10:13 pm on April 5, 2026 and he was kept in the police station lockup. All Supreme Court guidelines were followed during the arrest.
