QUEPEM: A serious assault case has been registered in Ambaulim, Quepem, following a complaint by Flocy Fernandes, a resident of Quepem. The incident reportedly occurred on June 4, 2024, and stems from a dispute over the diversion of rainwater flowing near the complainant’s residence.
According to the complaint, Minguel Fernandes, aged 48 and a resident of Ambaulim, allegedly attacked the complainant’s father with an iron rod and a wooden stick (danda), causing physical injuries. The confrontation allegedly arose due to disagreements regarding the direction of rainwater runoff in front of their homes.
The matter is currently under investigation by PSI Yogesh Gaonkar of the Quepem Police Station. Authorities are verifying the circumstances surrounding the incident and have recorded preliminary statements.
Locals in the area have expressed concern about escalating tensions between neighbors over water flow and property issues during the monsoon season. Police have urged residents to resolve such disputes amicably and warned that acts of violence will be dealt with strictly under the law.
