MARGAO: A man from Curtorim was arrested in Margao late Saturday night after being caught red-handed with a significant quantity of suspected narcotic substance.
As per the state complaint filed by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station, the incident occurred between 11:30 pm on June 14 and 2:00 am on June 15, 2025, in the Malbhat area of Margao.
The accused, identified as Melroy Ricardo, a resident of Curtorim, Salcete, was found in possession of 504 grams of dry, greenish-coloured flowering and fruiting tops of plants suspected to be Ganja. The seized narcotic is estimated to be worth around ₹50,400 in the illegal market.
He was immediately taken into custody, and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
