MARGAO: The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights carried out a late-night operation that resulted in the rescue of about eleven children.
A team led by Peter Borges, the chairperson of the Child Rights panel, collected the rescued children from the grounds of the Margao railway station and from the outdoors.
The rescue operation takes on significance in light of the recent kidnapping of a two-month-old infant from the railway station premises, even though Chairperson Borges noted that it is a part of routine exercises started by the panel. In addition, it takes on significance in light of the recent abandonment of a brother and sister minor pair on the Gandhi market and station road.
The Panel requested the Margao police’s aid and assistance in order to carry out the rescue operation. After completing the necessary paperwork at the Margao police station, the 11 rescued children were sent to the children’s home, Apna Ghar.
“The rescued children cannot be sent to Apna Ghar until the prescribed procedure is followed. He continued, “The team must also confirm the veracity of the parents who identify themselves as the children’s rescuers’ mother and father.
According to Borges, the Child Rights Panel has been carrying out regular rescue operations anytime they come across kids near the Fatorda train station or the former market circle.
“Throughout the State, the Panel regularly performs rescue operations. The rescue from last night is a component of the operation, he said.
The Child Rights panel was protected by the police throughout the rescue operation, according to PI Tulsidas Naik, the in-charge of the Margao police station.
