MARGAO: Meri Mati Mera Desh Program On Sapling Plantation and Soil Testing was organized by Government College of Commerce and Economics Borda Margao Salcete Goa with its NSS Unit in Association with the Village Panchayat of Cana Benaulim, Lions Club of Salcete and Leo Club of Salcete supported by the Forest Department South Goa at Margao. The various 210 Fruit Bearing, Medicinal Plants and Flower Bearing Saplings ranging from Grafted Mango ( Mankurad ), Guava, Jackfruit, Custard Apple, Ram Fal, Cinnamon ( Tikki ), Crotons, Noni, Bayo, Almond, Teak, Insulin, Apto, Taman, Zarambo, and much more were been planted and Distributed at three various places at Benaulim with Ushalaya Sisters of the Cross near Trinity Church, Village Panchayat Premises at Benaulim and With Students of Government of Primary School at Benaulim with the Aim of Together Towards Amrit Kaal With Yuva Shakti with the nation completing 75 years of its Independence and Marching Towards Amrit Kaal with the Prime Ministers Initiative of Paanch Pran and sensitising on it A Drive with a Campaign Pan India by Ministry of Youth Affairs Government of India. The Progam of Meri Mati Mera Desh kicked off at Ushalaya with a welcoming and a Small Talk on the Importance of Plantation and Caring for the Environment by Dr F.M. Nadaf the Officiating Principal of Government College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, He stressed on as Environment plays a very vital role in all our lives especially with plants, with a value of a tree and it increase the plantation to Plant a Sapling during Birthdays and maintain it.
Xavier Pereira also stressed the Need of the hour on the Environment to make it a Green revolution, Sr Elvira Dacunha the Superior of Ushalaya the Sisters of the Cross thanked the organisers. Glyda Rodrigues Dy Sarpanch Thanked with the Vote of Thanks with presence for Meri Mati Mera Desh with Xavier Pereira, Sarpanch, Shrirang Agrisani Secretary, Glyda Rodrigues, Deputy Sarpanch, Deila Pereira, Genciana Barretto e Colaco, Tukaram Kesarkar, Rini Mascarenhas, Resica Fernandes, Roque Fernandes the VDC Member of Village Panchayat Cana Benaulim.
