PANJIM: MGP today has decided to hold Central Committee elections on January 16,2021 while the results will be declared on January 17.
Nearly, 750-800 delegates will excercise their voting rights.
Addressing the media, MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar said that party has decided to hold Central Committee elections on January 16,2021 while the results will be declared on January 17.
“750-800 delegates will excercise their voting rights;the general body of the party has 700 members and holding their meeting was not allowed during pandemic,” said Dhavalikar
Reacting to no confidence motion against him, Dhavalikar pointed out that the Constitution of the party does not give any right for moving such a motion. He said that the election for the post of Central Committee was supposed to be held earlier but was deferred due to Zilla Panchayat elections and also COVID-19 pandemic.
A group of 27 members on Sunday moved the motion against Dhavalikar accusing him on various counts including not holding elections in 2019, illegally occupying the chair of the president for the year 2020, failing to address the issues raised by the members, and for not holding general body meetings for last 6 years.
They also accused Dhavalikar of “illegally removing General Secretary Lavoo Mamledar from the post.”
