NUVEM: Former Minister Miccky Pacheco today has alleged that Minister Alex Sequeira is a Portuguese national and state government should take immediate action against him.
“Minister Alex Sequeira is a Portuguese national and the state government should take immediate action against him. I have already filed a case High Court against him,” said Pacheco.
He further said that foreigners cannot be in the Goa government. The passport officer ought to revoke his passport.
“Alex Sequeira was born in 1957 in Kenya and registered his birth in Portugal on March 27th 2021, his Indian citizenship should be revoked immediately,” said Pacheco.
He further said that like others Sequeira’s passport should also be revoked like others who had their births registered in Portugal.
“If he has registered his birth in Portugal as this document clearly shows, we want to know if he has surrendered his Indian citizenship,” Pacheco said.
Pacheco further said that the government, which has made him its minister, should come out clean – did he cancel his birth registration in Portugal before contesting the last assembly election and then re-registered his birth in India? If so, when? If not, he isn’t eligible to hold a position in the government
Pacheco in his petition had alleged that Sequeira is a foreign national that he cannot hold any public office in the country and that he be restrained from functioning as a Cabinet Minister.
