MARGAO: FDA conducted inspection drive at KTC bus stand Margao to check non compliance towards food being transported through interstate buses.
It was observed that food products were being transported to Margao KTC bus stand via buses coming from neighbouring states. Some of these products did not bear proper label declarations as per FSSAI guidelines.
Several buses were checked for the same. During search operation Dessicated coconut powder manufactured at Telangana Hyderabad was found manufactured by a unit with expired license.
Upon further enquiry with Food business Operator he disclosed that said product was transported from Pune market. A maruti eco van bearing Registration Number GA06T4875 was apprehended and Misbranded Farsan and sweets were found.
The said product was manufactured by Suresh Lodhi at Cuncolim all the items were disposed in interest of public helath. Total stock was worth Rs. 46,500.
FDA said that the enhanced drive will continue in view of the approaching festive season.
