CANACONA: Amidst growing concerns that scores of tourists turns away without enjoying the world famous Palolem beach resulting in decline of businesses due to non-availability of Parking lots, two of the councilors of Canacona Municipal Council are planning to come with a solution, with a sole aim to minimize visitors exodus denying businesses at the congested Palolem beach.
Councillors Laxuman alia Bakal Pagui (a former Vice-Chairperson) and present CMC Vice-Chairperson Gandesh Madganvkar in their combined initiative are planning to put up a sign board/containing map of Palolem at the entrance of the world class Palolem beach beach providing the much needed information of availability of parking spaces/points at any given time.
Whenever, a vehicle arrives/enters Palolem village the board will highlight/blink the availability of parking spaces so that the driver can follow-up the direction and park the vehicle as per their convenience .
It is also learnt that that Sign-board will blink/light-up at the particular vacant parking spaces available the time be it night as well as during the day time if the parking space is available at the particular time.
According to sources, the initiative will be a joint venture of both the Councillors with their personnel resources, so that the visitors/tourists need not leave the Palolem beach without enjoying the God given world class beauty and amenities. This will also help tourists to prolong their stays in hotels and resorts giving more customers to the Shacks and restaurants at Palolem.
It may be recalled that its been now a decade that CMC, which has a small parking-lot at the main beach entrance is struggling to get the government approval for a modern-type and state-of-the-art parking-lot and widen the narrow road to ease the increasing traffic congestions and almost hourly traffic snarls.
