The case stems from an incident on Thursday night at Amona when a Bolero jeep allegedly entered the Chief Minister’s convoy while he was travelling from Sanquelim to Panaji. The unexpected movement of the vehicle triggered a security alert, following which the convoy’s security personnel intercepted it and moved it to the roadside.
According to the police, the occupants of the Bolero were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. While some of the occupants were detained immediately, the driver—identified as a police constable attached to the Ponda Sub-Division—and the remaining accused were later traced during the investigation.
Police have confirmed that all six are now in custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the security breach. No injuries were reported, and the Chief Minister’s convoy continued its journey safely after the incident.
