CURCHOREM: The body of a 54-year-old man, who had been reported missing a day earlier, was recovered from the Zuari River near Purushmharu Temple in Curchorem.
According to Curchorem Police, information was received from an unidentified person on July 21, 2026, about a body floating in the Zuari River. Police rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Shantesh Lotlikar, a resident of Anandwadi, Sanvordem.
With the assistance of Fire and Emergency Services personnel, the body was retrieved from the river.
During the inquiry, police found that Lotlikar had been missing since July 20, 2026, and a missing person report had already been registered at Curchorem Police Station.
Police conducted the scene of occurrence panchanama and inquest proceedings before sending the body to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for a post-mortem examination.
The police surgeon has reserved the opinion on the cause of death pending the results of the chemical analysis of viscera, diatom examination, and serological tests.
After the post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the deceased’s family for the last rites.
