Calangute: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has strongly condemned the controversial remarks made by Gautam Khattar against Goencho Saib, the revered patron saint Francis Xavier.
Lobo stated that people across Goa, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion, have denounced the offensive comments, describing them as irresponsible and deeply hurtful to the sentiments of Goans. He alleged that such statements appear to be a deliberate attempt to create division and communal disharmony in the state.
Highlighting Goa’s long-standing tradition of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect, Lobo urged citizens to remain vigilant against such attempts, particularly those driven by personal publicity. He called on people to stand united and firmly reject divisive narratives.
The MLA further stressed that individuals seeking to provoke hatred should find no place in Goa, and appealed to the public to distance themselves from those who support or justify such remarks.
Reiterating the importance of preserving communal harmony, Lobo said Goa must continue to uphold its identity as a land where people of all faiths coexist with respect, dignity, and peace.
