VASCO: On Tuesday, the Mormugao municipal council passed a surplus budget of Rs 2 crores 38 lakhs. The municipality budget was passed after heated discussions of suggestions on various issues some councillors gave during the meeting.
Discussion on the matters like pending development works, lack of funds to carry out development funds. Even after several issues related to pending government funds were discussed.
The surplus budget was passed in the budget meeting in the Mormugao municipal council hall.
Further, the council also raised valid concern over the 174% revenue increase in the budget, which some councillors claimed was not possible to generate as earlier years’ budget was surplus, but they have failed to raise the revenue.
The council has shown serious concern for the undeveloped council and wards due to the non-availability of funds and revenue.
