VASCO: The issue of occupancy to Goa Shipyard Limited rocked the MMC council meeting, with the Council finally resolving to revoke the Occupancy Certificate.
MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said MMC has given occupancy after a letter and approvals were received from DMA, but the councillors have moved a resolution to revoke the occupancy granted to GSL.
Ward councillor Priya Raut says GSL is in violation and has not given a setback and the compound wall of GSL needs to be removed to prevent traffic congestion and accidents.
Vasco BJP Mandal President Deepak Naik said GSL being a central government organisation, cannot be above the law and says that MMC must not extend its support to GSL, which does not support locals.
Naik says if the MMC does not come forward, he will file a case at his own expenses.
