VERNA: Verna Police have registered a case against a motorcycle rider for allegedly riding in a rash and negligent manner, leading to a road accident in which his pillion rider sustained grievous injuries.
According to the state complaint filed by ASI Paresh Faldesai of Verna Police Station, the accident occurred at around 6:48 pm on July 20, 2026, near MES College, Sancoale.
Police said the accused rider, Mohammad Areef, a resident of Zuarinagar, Sancoale, was riding a Hero motorcycle from the National Highway towards MES College.
On reaching the internal four-road junction at Siddhartha Colony near MES College, he allegedly crossed the road without taking proper care and precaution.
As a result, a Ford Figo car collided with the left side of the motorcycle.
The pillion rider, Prakash Lamani, a resident of Birla, Zuarinagar, Sancoale, sustained grievous injuries to his left leg in the accident.
Further investigation is being carried out by ASI Paresh Faldesai of Verna Police Station.
