Panaji: Goa Medical College Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar said that the Union Minister Shripad Naik is out of danger and there is no need for him to be shifted in AIIMS Delhi as of now.
Dr Bandekar says Naik responded well when the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called him this afternoon.
“He is stable but we have kept him in ICU for close monitoring. He had multiple fractures and all these fractures have been operated by me whole night yesterday. I went to OT at 2 am and came back at 8 am. There were three major and one minor,” he stated.
Dr Bandekar informed that Naik’s shoulder was crushed in the accident while the fore-arm bone and thigh bones were fractured.
“There was an injury in the chest, we have inserted a tube and now the bleeding has stopped. As reported by media there is no spinal injury,” he said.
Asked about AIIMS team visiting Goa, he said, Defence Minister recommended second opinion from AIIMS team and GMC team agreed.
“He is out of danger now. We have given him all the treatment. Here we are taking all care and right now he is stable. There is no need to shift him out of Goa but he is precious for nation also,” he stated.
Asked how much time Naik will take to recover, he said, maybe three months.
