PONDA: Ponda Police have registered a case against nine persons and around 30 unidentified individuals for allegedly trespassing into the Shree Saibaba Temple premises at Borim, breaking open locks, stealing CCTV and computer hard disks, and threatening temple employees.
The complaint was filed by Dinesh Raikar, President and Trustee of the Shree Saibaba Seva Mandal Trust, Borim.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on July 11, 2026, at around 10.45 am, when the accused allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and entered the temple premises despite a temporary injunction issued by a competent civil court in a regular civil suit restraining them from interfering in the management and affairs of the trust.
Police said the accused have been identified as Akshay Naik, Kamlakar Naik, Abhiraj Naik, Suraj Naik, Shantaram Naik, Sunny Naik, Anand Naik, Vasudev Naik, all residents of Borim, Deepak Raikar of Ponda, along with about 30 unidentified persons.
The complainant alleged that the group cut open the locks installed by the trust, replaced them with new locks, forcibly entered the temple committee office, and allegedly stole two DVR hard disks connected to the CCTV system and two computer hard disks from the temple office.
The accused also allegedly threatened temple employees Kallappa Patil and Manas Jyoti.
Ponda Police have registered Crime No. 73/2026 under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 329(4), 324(4), 305 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prajyot Bakhale of Ponda Police Station.
