New Delhi: The Indian Air Force has categorically denied reports suggesting that one of its aircraft crashed near Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir, calling the circulating claims false and misleading. The clarification comes after several media outlets and social media platforms shared unverified information about a supposed incident in the region.
In an official statement, the IAF confirmed that no such crash had occurred and urged both media organisations and the public to rely on verified sources before sharing sensitive information. The force emphasised that premature or inaccurate reporting can create unnecessary panic, especially in areas linked to national security.
The rumours gained traction after visuals showing smoke rising from mountainous terrain were widely circulated online, with claims that the footage was linked to an aircraft crash. However, authorities have made it clear that these claims are not connected to any IAF activity.
The IAF’s response highlights the growing challenge of misinformation in the digital age, where unverified content can spread rapidly and lead to confusion. Officials stressed the importance of cross checking facts with authorised sources before publishing or forwarding such reports.
By issuing a prompt clarification, the Indian Air Force has effectively put an end to the speculation surrounding the alleged incident. The development serves as a reminder of the need for responsible communication, particularly when dealing with defence related matters, where accuracy is critical.
