PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that there has not been any communal tension or any other issues due to the uniform civil code in the state.
“There has not been any communal tension or any other issues due to the uniform civil code in the state. One-third of the population in Goa comprises minority communities that include 27 per cent Christians and five to six per cent Muslims. There have been no complaints or problems,” said Sawant.
Speaking on the anti-conversion bill, CM said, “Even today, I say that we follow the Uniform civil code. I have not spoken against anyone’s religion.”
He further said that it is every religion’s right to protect itself, and it does not mean attacking other religion and converting it. Everyone’s religion is dear to them.
“Since liberation till today, we have been following Uniform civil code. We have been following UCC in Goa, and it should be implemented across the nation. Nobody should have any issue in following UCC.” he added.
