PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made a potentially controversial statement on Tuesday, claiming that there was no relationship between Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation’s first prime minister, and Children’s Day, which is observed on November 14.
“There was no connection between Children’s Day and Nehru. Another factor is that Nehru’s birthday is observed as Children’s Day because history claims he once loved children. I have no desire to discuss that. Children’s Day is today,” said Sawant.
The Chief Minister announced that Veer Baal Diwas will be observed on December 26 by the central government.
According to Sawant, elementary and high schools have received a circular from the directorate of education encouraging them to commemorate the day on the first day of classes following the Christmas break.
“I will explain to you the significance of Veer Baal Diwas. Because of a circular that Prime Minister Narendra Modi released, we shouldn’t celebrate Veer Baal Diwas. He added.
“We should celebrate it to create faith and love among youth toward their religion.” Sawant remarked, “Everyone loves his dharma.”
