BHOMA: Minister and Priol MLA Govind Gaude claimed that the people of Bhoma are spending their time on agitations on the highway expansion problem and that they have been misinformed that the plan will not affect any temples.
“Only four houses at Bhoma, which will be affected, would be rehabilitated,” the minister told reporters following meetings with the locals, Sarpanch Damodar Naik, and NH authorities. Some individuals with vested interests are misguiding the Bhoma villagers. I promise the villagers that no temple will be damaged or demolished.
“Bhomkars could not explain why they opposed the proposed four-lane flyover and why they wanted a bypass road,” he said.
As you may remember, Bhomkars have long opposed highway expansion because they believe that the project will destroy their homes, temples, and businesses.
“We have documents to prove that deities are 400 years old and need to be protected,” stated Sanjay Naik, a local leader. When I was in charge and speaking for the restless people, the minister forbade me from giving our side of the story, so I left the meeting.
“Bhomkars will hold a meeting to announce their position on the matter,” he stated. They are adamant about demanding a bypass and are vehemently against the current highway expansion plan.
