PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assured the House today that a thorough investigation of Zuari Industry’s property sale in Sancoale will be conducted by the government, and that any necessary action to revoke previously granted approvals will be taken.
Vijai brought up the matter of Zuari land near Sancoale, pointing out that the Lodha Group was developing a project there called “Conquer Goa.”
In addition, Vijai questioned if the government would permit land plotting if Zuari closed its Sancoale business.
According to Minister Atanasio Monserratte, Communidade is the rightful owner of the land. Minister Monserrate, replying to the questions raised by the opposition benches, said that the government is awaiting a report from a lawyer, in regards to whether land can be transferable or not.
In response to the conversation, CM promises to carry out the investigation and guarantees that the land won’t be permitted to be sold for residential use.
Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai exposed the Zuari Land issue as a Mega Scam. He said that land meant for Industrial Purposes has now been sold for more than a Lakh for residential purposes.
He said that land acquired from the Sancoale Communidade at Rs 0.25/sq. Meter by former Chief Minister Bhausaheb Bandodkar is being sold at Rs. 53,000 to Rs. 1.19L/sq. mt.
“The title of the question on Zuari Land Scam itself certifies the same,” said Vijai.
CM has assured the house to investigate and said that he won’t allow any more sale of land.
The Opposition, it may be recalled had raised a storm in the Assembly terming the Zuari Agro Chemical’s ‘land selling’ a scam of Rs 50,000 crore.
The then Congress MLA Michael Lobo had raised the question asking whether the communidade land was transferable, to which the Revenue Minister had said that legal opinion on the same had been sought while Sawant had assured the House to keep the registration of sale deeds on hold.
