VALPOI: The North Goa District Collector has ordered to ban heavy traffic from the Chorla Ghat area between Goa and Belgaum from July 1, but there has been no implementation of the said order.
Due to the non-implementation of this order, many heavy vehicles are plying on this route, and three accidents have taken place on Sunday itself.
It has been revealed that in all accidents, heavy vehicles were involved.
The continuance of heavy vehicles poses grave danger for light vehicles and two-wheelers.
It is learned that the North Goa District Collector had issued an order banning heavy traffic on the Chorla Highway from July 1 to December 31. It was to be implemented from July 1.
However, as this is not happening, several heavy traffic is seen coming from Belgaum and vice-versa.
In the three accidents on Sunday, six vehicles were severely damaged.
No casualties have been reported though.
The local Deputy Collector or the Mameletdar is responsible for enforcing the order issued by the Collector.
Surprisingly, Keri has set up a checkpoint due to COVID19 pandemic, and police and traffic police are guarding the check post.
However, locals ask why there is no action against heavy traffic? Whose blessings do they have?
At present, 20-wheelers are also plying on this highway.
It is understood that a large quantity of dolomite is being transported from Karnataka.
These goods are currently being supplied to Sesa Goa and other companies, which does not rule out the possibility of the road deteriorating in just four months.
