PANAJI: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has asked event organisers hosting open-air events, including marriages, with more than 50 attendees to take permission from authorities for playing loud music.
GSPCB has also asked install online Noise Level Monitoring systems and connect them to the GSPCB server ass well as the office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate and Office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police for the purpose of monitoring the noise levels and ensuring compliance to the Rules.
“It has clarified that only those diesel generator sets which comply with the provision of the Environment (protection) Rules as notified by MoEFCC should be sold, purchased, supplied and used by any manufacture, dealer, shopkeeper, etc,” the board said
Further, failure to comply with the directions would be liable to pay compensation as per the Noise Rules 2000.
“The directions are issued based on the Action Plan notified to control noise pollution in the State in January, earlier this year,” it said
“Public Address System, loudspeaker or any sound producing instrument or a musical instrument or a sound amplifier shall not be used in open areas without the prior permission of the Authority — the Concerned Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM),” the notice states.
