PONDA: The potholes generated on Borim bridge are causing hardship to commuters. The Borim bridge is an important bridge connecting north and south Goa, and also traffic from neighbouring Belgaum and Karwar proceeds on this road.
According to commuters, due to heavy transportation, the potholes on the bridge are slowly growing in size, and before they take life, the PWD NH should cover them from a safety point.
It may be recalled that the Old carpet on Borim bridge was removed, and new hot-mix carpeting was done in Oct 2021; however, in some places, potholes are developed even before the rainy season.
Locals said the Borim bridge had completed its life span of 30 years and that Borim locals now don’t want repairs to Borim bridge but want a permanent solution with a new Bridge and Bypass road.
