MORMUGAO: A group of devotees of His Holiness Padmashree awardee Pujya Sadguru Bramheshanandacharya Swami gathered at Mormugao Police Station to check the progress of the FIR filed against social activist Xencor Polgi.
The complaint was lodged over Polgi’s alleged objectionable remarks against the Goa Spiritual Festival held at Baina Beach.
Speaking to the media, devotee Dilip Kajale expressed concern over the lack of action despite the FIR being registered. “We came to the police station to follow up on our complaint and inquire about the status of the investigation. Though an FIR has been lodged under multiple sections, we have not received any updates on the progress. Several organizations devoted to Bramheshanand Swamiji have also been asking about the action taken, which is why we decided to visit the police station,” Kajale said.
Kajale further stated that Mormugao Police officials assured them that the investigation is ongoing and that necessary legal procedures are being followed. “They have assured us that action will be taken, though it has been several days since our complaint was filed,” he added.
It may be recalled that Mormugao Police registered an FIR against Xencor Polgi last Thursday following multiple complaints from Swamiji’s devotees. The FIR, filed by Vasco resident Dilip Kajale, alleged that Polgi made derogatory statements about the Goa Spiritual Festival, organized by the Satguru Foundation at Baina Beach.
The complaint accused Polgi of intentionally outraging religious sentiments by using offensive language against Bramheshanand Swamiji, alleging his association with political figures, and inciting enmity on religious grounds. It also claims that Polgi spread these remarks on social media, potentially disturbing public harmony.
The FIR had been registered under Sections 299, 196, 353(2), and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Meanwhile, devotees continue to demand prompt action against the accused.
