PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the state government is currently working to create a system which enables the department of Labour and Employment to automatically eliminate the name from the employment exchange once that particular person is employed.
“If we see the data with the employment exchange, some people who are working in state government, as well as the private sector, have registered with the department saying that they are unemployed,” said Sawant.
He further said that around 1.10 lakh people are registered with the employment exchange, but around 80,000 are already employed with the private sector or government.
“Government is currently working to create a system which enables the department of Labour and Employment to automatically eliminate the name from the employment exchange once that particular person is employed,’ he added.
Sawant said that some people have registered with employment exchange as unemployed as they are waiting for better prospects in terms of government jobs.
“As per my knowledge, only 20,000 from the 1.10 lakh people are unemployed. MLAs and Ministers can’t give jobs. It was the wrong concept in Goa as of now; candidates used to go to MLAs` homes, but henceforth those who want a job should apply directly to the Staff Selection Commission.”
He said that only the Staff Selection Commission will now look to select a candidate.
“100 per cent government recruitment will be done by Staff Selection Commission. Those who perform best in staff selection competitive exams… only they will be selected,” Sawant said.
