PANAJI: Congress leader and advocate Amit Palekar on Monday alleged that he survived a life-threatening road rage attack in Taleigao on Sunday night and also accused the authorities of failing to act against Chitti Babu Ghanta despite multiple complaints.
Addressing a press conference, Palekar claimed that a group of allegedly intoxicated youths abused him and attempted to assault him following a road rage incident in Taleigao.
“I had a life-threatening incident last night. Some drunk youths tried to attack me in a road rage incident. They attempted to flee after spotting a police vehicle, but I chased them, noted down their car registration number and alerted the police,” Palekar alleged.
Palekar also alleged that Chitti Babu Ghanta has been harassing and cheating several people of money and claimed that no police case has been registered against him despite repeated complaints. Calling Ghanta a “habitual offender,” Palekar questioned the alleged inaction by law enforcement.
He further alleged that Ghanta has links with politicians and government officials and accused him of forging documents. Holding the BJP government responsible for the alleged delay in action, Palekar said the Congress would pursue the matter legally to ensure justice for those allegedly duped.
