MARGAO: The Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate and his wife Jennifer made a plea, requesting that the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) be directed to produce the closure report in the Panaji police station attack case. The CBI has refused to comply.
The CBI’s Naushad filed a reply on Friday when the case was scheduled to be heard by South Goa Sessions Judge Irsha Agha. The reply opposed the Monserrattes’ requests for the production of the case’s closure report.
The Sessions judge has now set a date for the case’s arguments to take place the following week.
A fortnight ago, the Monserratte’s filed a plea with the trial court, requesting that the CBI produce the closure report related to the attack on the Panaji police station. The Monserrattes’ lawyers had argued that the CBI was required by notification to look into both the Monserrattes’ complaint about the police attack on them and the Panaji police station attack case.
On the other hand, they stated that although the CBI had filed a charge sheet against the defendants in the attack on the Panaji police station, the investigating agency had filed a closure report in response to the Monserrattes’ complaint that was brought before the Margao Judicial Magistrate First Class.
