PANAJI: DGP Jaspal Singh IPS said that Goa is the safest state for women and Goa Police will continue to make it safe for tourists also.
“Goa was the safest state for women and Goa Police will continue to make it safe not only for tourists but also to the senior citizens of the State,” said Jaspal Singh .
He further said that Goa Police is committed to your welfare and safety and that people should never hesitate to call your beat police.
Singh said that there was a decline of 38% in crime in January 2023. “This declining trend continued and in April 2023, the crime declined by 32% in the North Goa district and by 38% in the South Goa district,”he said.
Singh further said, “In the first fortnight of May 2023, there has been a decline of almost 35%. A fall of almost 44% has been noticed in the violent crime of murder and a decline of 22% in snatching (incidents).”
This is despite the fact that police are busy handling G-20 events as well, which require comprehensive security and law and order arrangements, he said.
“While constructive criticism of public authorities acts as a feedback mechanism, a sharp reaction not based on facts after an isolated incident lowers the morale of law enforcement agencies,” said the DGP
DGP also said that, many acts of excellent work by Goa police were not appreciated by public figures. Nevertheless, Goa police would continue to do good work and soon nab the culprits.
