PONDA: Ponda Police have arrested a travel agent from Uttar Pradesh in connection with an alleged ₹2.67 lakh tour package fraud, in which a Ponda resident was reportedly duped on the promise of a Maldives holiday.
The accused, Sonu Prasad, a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and proprietor of Heaven Holidays Tours and Travels, was arrested by a Ponda Police team led by PSI Bansal Naik after the team travelled to Ghaziabad to execute the arrest.
According to police, the accused allegedly induced the complainant from Ponda to pay ₹2,67,600 by promising to arrange a tour package to the Maldives in December 2025. However, after receiving the payment, he allegedly neither arranged the promised tour nor refunded the amount.
Following the registration of a cheating case at Ponda Police Station, the accused was traced and arrested in Ghaziabad. Further investigation into the case is in progress.
