PONDA: Ponda Police rescued a pet dog with the help of locals after a video of an injured dog tied in a plastic bag found dumped in a nullah at Usgao went viral.
After inquiry in this connection, Police arrested one Hussain Kasab (45), resident of Avanti Nagar Tisk Usgao, for cruelty to the animal under Section 11 (a) IGH.
According to Ponda PI Mohan Gaude, the accused had taken a pet dog from another person. However, recently, after an injury on the dog’s neck, Hussain put it in a plastic bag, tied it, and dumped it into the nullah.
According to locals, the nullah flows with full flow in rain and spring water of surrounding areas.
However, as there was no rain, the nullah water level was low, and the dog survived. There were chances of dogs flowing with rainwater; however, there was no heavy rain, luckily.
The locals were able to notice it and record it, and put it on social media. The locals also complained to Ponda Police, following which the accused was arrested.
Kasturi Howale filed a complaint about the incident at Ponda Police Station.
