PONDA: The PWD Divison XVIII today laid foundation stone at hands of Ponda MLA Ravi Naik for reconstruction and widening of Portuguese era narrow culvert at Curti on Khandepar to Ponda City road.
Following this, the traffic on this road is closed and would be diverted on alternative internal roads through Curti bypass service road to which several internal roads from City are connected.
The traffic would be diverted from October 1 for six months until March 2022, when the culvert is completed.
The culvert will be constructed at the cost of Rs 1.21 crore, said MLA Ravi Naik.
This is an old Portuguese era culvert, narrow as well as antique and heavy vehicles, including loaded trucks, are using the culvert, so there was a need for reconstruction.
He urged the public to bear with inconvenience and use the alternative road for declared for traffic diversion.
The work is expected to be completed by March 2022.
AE Fadte said the culvert would be widened into ten Meters Curti Sarpanch Gurudas Khedekar and Panchmembers were present.
