PANAJI: The investigation into the Porvorim shooting has taken an interstate turn, with the Goa Police Crime Branch arresting two more accused in Chennai, including a man identified by police as the alleged second shooter.
The two accused, Arputharaj alias Anna, 49, and Pavan Saur, 19, were apprehended within the jurisdiction of Lighthouse Police Station in Chennai by a team of the Goa Crime Branch.
According to the Crime Branch, Arputharaj is alleged to be the second shooter involved in the Porvorim incident, alongside Babu Ali, who was arrested two days earlier near the Nepal border. Police have also alleged that Pavan was actively involved in the conspiracy.
The latest arrests indicate that investigators are pursuing leads extending beyond Goa as they work to establish the wider network and roles of those allegedly involved in the case.
With the two fresh arrests, six accused have so far been taken into custody in connection with Porvorim Police Station case 66/2026.
The Crime Branch has continued its investigation to establish the sequence of events, identify the roles of the accused and uncover further links in the alleged conspiracy.
