VERNA: A rashly driven Mahindra Thar allegedly triggered a serious three-vehicle accident near Blueberry, Verna, on Sunday afternoon, leaving a 25-year-old scooter rider injured and causing extensive damage to all three vehicles.
According to Verna Police, the Mahindra Thar, driven by Shikar Shetty, a resident of Colvale, was travelling towards Verna when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near Blueberry.
The Thar first collided with a Hyundai Creta carrying around three occupants. The impact caused the SUV to cross the road divider and enter the opposite carriageway, where it crashed head-on into a Jupiter scooter ridden by Sintoo Mitthu Lal, 25, a resident of Upasnagar and a native of Uttar Pradesh.
The force of the collision trapped the scooter beneath the Thar, while all three vehicles were thrown off the road. The Jupiter scooter was completely damaged in the accident.
Sintoo Mitthu Lal sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police said he was later discharged after receiving medical care and is now out of danger.
Verna Police visited the accident site, conducted a spot inspection and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Further inquiry is in progress.
