The Directorate of Education (DoE) on Thursday has issued a circular withdrawing fee hike for unaided schools for the academic year 2020-21.
“DoE received several complaints/ calls from several parents whose wards are going to Unaided school regarding fees levied by the Unaided Schools during the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis wherein it is claimed that the fees has been increased without prior notice or information to the parents.” the circular issued by DoE states
The circular further states that some of the unaided schools had taken the approval for fees structure for the academic year 2020-2021 from the Directorate of Education before and some of them after the COVID-19 crisis.
“In order to maintain equality the Government has decided not to permit any fee hike for 2020-21 and roll back the hike permitted till date. It is hereby instructed to the Management of all the Unaided Primary/ Secondary/ Higher Secondary Schools in the State of Goa to not hike school fees for the academic year 2020-2021.
Therefore the fees charged from the students for the academic year 2020-2021 should be same that of fees charged during academic year 2019-20 if approved. In case any school had not got their fee structure approved for academic year 2019-2020 they are to get their fee structure approved by the Directorate for 2020-2021.
The Un-aided School shall waive off the Activity fee for the Academic year 2020-2021 in respect of all the students in the school and no transportation charges will be collected until the transportation actually commences.
