PANAJI: Escalating the leadership dispute within the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), the party has accused Viresh Borkar of attempting to seize control of the organisation and has declared that he holds no authorised position within the party.
In a detailed clarification issued on Friday, the RGP alleged that a conspiracy to gain control of the party and split the organisation was planned during a meeting in Margao. It claimed that subsequent actions, including attempts to disrupt meetings of the Core Executive Committee (CEC), take control of the party’s digital platforms, issue legal notices and initiate court proceedings, were part of the alleged plan.
The party asserted that its constitution does not recognise the post of National President and stated that Borkar has neither been appointed to that position nor designated as the party’s whip.
RGP further declared that all letters, circulars, press statements, appointments, suspensions and other communications issued by Borkar in the party’s name are unauthorised, invalid and should not be treated as official.
The clarification maintained that all existing committees, including the Core Executive Committee, continue to function legally and that the ten members previously expelled from the party have not been reinstated.
The party also stated that its registered office remains at Patto, Panaji, and alleged that the letterhead and stamp used by Borkar are not official documents of the organisation.
Reaffirming the legitimacy of its current leadership, the RGP said all elected and appointed office-bearers, including the General Secretary, Treasurer and other functionaries, continue to discharge their responsibilities. It described reports suggesting their suspension or removal as false and without any legal standing.
The party further stated that disciplinary proceedings against Borkar are already pending and appealed to members, supporters and media organisations to rely only on communications issued through authorised office-bearers.
The clarification was issued by RGP General Secretary Vishvesh Naik amid the ongoing internal leadership conflict within the party.
