PANAJI: The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has announced a sweeping organisational overhaul, with National President and St. Andre MLA Viresh Borkar suspending two senior office-bearers, dissolving all party committees across Goa, revoking earlier expulsions of 10 members, and ordering fresh organisational elections within 45 days.
In separate orders issued on July 24, Borkar suspended General Secretary Vishvesh Naik and Treasurer Ajay Kholkar from their respective posts as well as from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect, pending disciplinary inquiries under Article VI of the party constitution.
The action follows a representation submitted by several founder members on July 17, alleging that the two leaders took arbitrary and unauthorised decisions without the knowledge or approval of the party president, members, or committees, in violation of the party constitution.
Pending completion of the inquiry, both leaders have been barred from representing the party, participating in organisational activities, issuing public statements, or convening and attending meetings in any official capacity. They have also been directed to hand over all party records, funds, accounts, property, and digital credentials within seven days. The party said a disciplinary committee will be constituted to conduct the inquiry while ensuring adherence to the principles of natural justice.
In another significant decision, Borkar revoked the earlier termination of 10 party members, including three founder members, stating that their expulsion through a Facebook post on June 16, 2026, was unlawful and arbitrary as it was carried out without show-cause notices, hearings, or authorisation from the party leadership.
While declaring the earlier expulsions null and void, the party has placed the 10 members under suspension pending disciplinary proceedings. Those suspended are Aditya Dessai, Premanand Havlu Gaude, Vishal Gauns Dessai, Prashant Suresh Pagi, Rahul Naik, Dagley Fernandes, Melvin Da Silva, Licio Roncon, Manilla Shirodkar, and Sanjan Shriniwas Naik.
The suspended members have also been requested to refrain from initiating legal proceedings or judicial intervention to facilitate smooth organisational functioning ahead of the party’s internal elections.
As part of the restructuring exercise, Borkar dissolved all existing State, District, Block, Taluka, Ward, and other organisational committees with immediate effect, noting that the post of State President is currently vacant.
The party has announced that fresh organisational elections for all posts at every level will be conducted within 45 days, in accordance with the party constitution and guidelines issued by the National Executive.
