PANAJI: Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim and Don Bosco College, Panjim advanced to the finals of the
Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2024-25 for Women.
Semi-Finals- I at Goa University Ground
In the semi-final match conducted at the Goa University Ground, the formidable team from Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, advanced decisively to the finals by overpowering Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, with a final score of 9-0. During the first half, Rosary College’s aggressive strategy against DM’s College defence resulted in five goals, including two scored by Swellen Fernandes in the 18th and 35th minutes, along with a hat trick from Vinoshka Fernandes in the 21st, 24th, and 39th minutes.
The offensive onslaught from Rosary College persisted into the second half, where they further secured their victory by netting an additional four goals. This scoring spree commenced with a goal from Aniela Barretto in the 52nd minute, followed by another from Swellen in the 60th minute, and concluded with two more goals from Vinoshka Fernandes in the 65th and 70th minutes.
Semi-Finals- II
At Rosary College Ground
In the semi-final match held at Rosary Ground, Don Bosco College, Panjim advanced to the finals with a decisive victory over St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, finishing the game with a score of 3-0. The scoring commenced in the 11th minute of the first half when standout player Ms. Karen Estrocia found the back of the net. She further extended the lead by scoring again in the 39th minute, concluding the first half with a score of 2-0. In the second half, St. Xavier’s College mounted a strong defense, successfully limiting Don Bosco’s scoring opportunities until the 79th minute, when Ms. Sushmita Jadhav managed to score, bringing the final tally to 3-0.
