Panaji: The Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera celebrated its 21st Installation ceremony at the Panjim Gymkhana on 30th June 2024 marking a significant milestone in its commitment to community service. Outgoing President Rtn. Denzil Xavier and Secretary Rtn. Joshua D’mello handed over the leadership to incoming President Rtn. Tanvi Sawant and Secretary Rtn. Maithili Nadkarni.
The event also served as a platform to launch three transformative community service initiatives:
Empowering Education: A visually impaired student who has successfully completed their 10th-grade exams was gifted a laptop, donated by Rahul and Rtn. Maithili Nadkarni, to support their continued education.
Economic Empowerment: The “Fruit & Vegetable E-Kart” initiative was launched, aimed at empowering women with financial independence. The Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera expressed its gratitude to DHOOP and Rtn. Gaurish Dhond for their generous contribution to the down payment for both carts.
Environmental Stewardship: A two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Sensible Earth to join their “Maka Naka Plastic” campaign. The Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera pledged to raise awareness about the hazards of plastic, promote the use of cloth bags, and work towards a plastic-free environment.
Incoming President Rtn. Tanvi Sawant shared her vision for the future:
“As we embark on this new chapter, the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera remains dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Our focus on education, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability reflects our commitment to building a stronger, healthier, and more equitable community for all.”
