PONDA: Shivanand Pednekar, Chairman of Rudreshwar SDVS, at Harvale, Sanquelim, in a letter to the Registrar,
Registrar of Co-Operative Societies urged to inquire about the Purchase of Cow Milk from outside the state and corrupt practices in Goa Dairy.
Pednekar said in the complaint that Goa Dairy purchases approximately 15000 to 20000 litres of milk daily from outside Goa State.
Presently, milk is purchased from Navnath Milk & Milk Products and Sampatrao Deshmukh Co-Operative Milk Union, both from Maharashtra.
The milk purchased is at a higher rate of 4 to 5 rupees per lit higher than the market rate.
He visited Goa Dairy on May 23, and he noticed that Goa Dairy is purchasing at ₹47/- per litre. He informed that in Maharashtra, milk is available for 4 to 5 rupees lesser than that rate purchased by Dairy.
He was shocked that Dairy had issued a purchase order on June 1, 2023, by lowering ₹2/- litre without any Board resolution.
This proves that Goa Dairy suffers loss.
Upon further investigation, it is suspected that one of the disqualified Board of Directors has taken Rs. 10,00,000 commission in advance from the suppliers before being disqualified.
Because of this corrupt practice of purchasing milk at higher rates, the milk Union has suffered a loss of ₹20-₹25 lakhs from 16/04/23 to 31/05/2023.
He humbly requested the RCS office to initiate an urgent inquiry in this matter and recover the extra amount paid to the tune of ₹20-₹25 lakhs from those responsible and save Goa dairy.
