Panaji: The stage is set for an exciting finale at the 6th Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial Table Tennis Ranking Tournament, with Ruhaan Shaikh, Vedant Wagle, Yug Prabhu and Ishita Colaso producing impressive performances to book their places in the championship matches.
Organised by Chandor Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, the tournament is being held at the Chandor Club Multipurpose Hall and has witnessed spirited competition from some of Goa’s most promising young paddlers.
In the Boys’ Under 15 category, Ruhaan Shaikh and Vedant Wagle battled through thrilling five game semi finals to reach the title clash. Ruhaan edged past Dhruva Kamat 3 to 2 in a closely contested encounter, while Vedant overcame Yug Prabhu by the same margin to set up a much anticipated final.
The Boys’ Under 13 competition saw Yug Prabhu deliver a commanding display as he defeated Yuvaan Sanke 3 to 0. Mission Lalpekhlua also advanced in convincing fashion with a straight games victory over Ishaan Colaso, setting up the championship match against Yug.
In the Girls’ Under 15 semi finals, Ishita Colaso showcased her class with a dominant 3 to 0 victory over Gianna George. Sachi Dessai secured the second finalist spot after defeating Vanlalrinzuali 3 to 1 in another impressive performance.
The Girls’ Under 13 final will feature Sachi Dessai and Tisha Shaikh. Sachi advanced with a comfortable 3 to 0 win over Vanlalrinzuali, while Tisha defeated Inara D’Souza by an identical margin to complete the final lineup.
With several exciting title contests lined up, the tournament promises an entertaining finish as Goa’s emerging table tennis stars compete for top honours.
