Panaji: Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar on Wednesday announced that he would withdraw support to the Dr Pramod Sawant led BJP Government.
The development came a day after the CM and the BJP led a scathing attack on Gaonkar on IIT land issue saying the MLA wanted setting n Sanguem land dealing.
“I am withdrawing support to this government, will submit the letter to Governor Bhagat Singh Khoshyari now,” he said.
On CM’s comments that Gaonkar was moving around to do deals for IIT lands, he said that the CM must inquire and not make baseless allegations.
“CM can initiate inquiry and the find out if there was any commission or deal in that. Why make such allegations. I have lost all respect for him and I feel I met withdraw support to the CM now,” he said.
Couple of days earlier Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar has indirectly stated that his constituency was robbed of the project.
“Former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had promised us that IIT Goa would come up in Sanguem. There were some minor issues of farmers which could have been sorted but the government have the project to Sattari,” he said after meeting Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
The MLA says there is a good site in Sanguem which was ideal for educational project.
“It was a big project for Goa and I am of the view that we had land and couls have ben utilised for the IIT,” he said.
Asked whether he welcomes IIT in Sanguem since the project os opposed in Sattari, replied, the project is already given to Sattari and I do not want on that now.
“You see youth are opposing projects as there is no clarity on what is happeneni. Once the land is identified by government they have to talk to locals which is not happening,” he said.
