Panaji: Chairman of Sugarcane farmers facilitation Committee Adv. Narendra Sawaikar submitted a report to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant suggesting immediate action for resumption of Sanjeevani sugar factory.
During the discussion other members Ramesh Tawadkar, Subhash Faldessai, Aitin Mascarenhas, Harshad Prabhudesai and Satish Tendulkar were also present.
Following suggestions have been made:
1. Agriculture Dept. be entrusted with the work to strengthen the Agricultural wing of sugar factory.
2. Seed cum demonstration plot of high yielding varities of sugarcane of Sanjivani sugar factory be developed immediately. So that by October/ November 2021 seed can be made available to existing and prospective sugarcane growers.
3. Services of expert organisations like Deccan Sugar Technology Association and Jaggery Research Station, Sankeshwar be engaged for study of technical feasibility for new emerging concepts like Ethanol & organic jaggery so that sugarcane cultivation can be more profitable.
4. Further, services of expert organisation like Deccan Sugar Technology Association, Pune be engaged for proposing the Modernisation of sugar factory inorder to improve the efficiency and making it economically viable so that sugarcane growers can get better price for their produce. By February 2021 the expert organisations should submit their report in this regard.
During the discussion the Hon. CM assured that the amount of Rs. 600 will be disbursed shortly. Further, Govt. has already initiated steps like assessment of Sugarcane for payment of compensation and the same will be paid to the sugarcane growers.
