Speaking to the media this evening, Goa Women Forward President Adv. Ashma has condemned the brutal attack on women at Shel-Melauli yesterday by the Police. “The shameful act of walking upon elderly women protestors by the P.I Sagar Ekoskar on the Melauli site was nothing short of shameful and horrifying. Is this so-called development in Goa” Ashma said and further alleged that the “Attack on the women at melauli was directed by Chief Minister Sawant.”
Ashma further noted that “Goa definitely has a very arrogant CM who knows nothing except for bull-dozing everyone that comes in his way. He has claimed that he had sent a notice for the Melauli locals to meet him on this issue but they had not responded, but the CM has forgotten that when he needs votes he has to go to the people.” The CM also made a statement that his Govt will file an attempt to murder charge against the locals which even include women during the protest. The GFP womens president questioned, “Does he really know the laws of the state? The police force Walking upon the chest of a woman is absolutely disturbing and unacceptable . I have to repeatedly remind the BJP Mahila Morcha – Is this what they mean by ‘Save the Girl child’, ‘Protect Women’, ‘Women are our Pride, she said.
Adv Ashma also pointed out that “the Chief Minister also has a wife and daughter. Would he have kept silent if the same situation had happened to them? How can any woman keep quiet in this situation? Goa Women Forward condemn this brutal act of yesterday. If a similar situation arises again tomorrow then CM Sawant will not hesitate to even give shoot at sight orders to anyone who comes in his way “said Adv.Ashma.
She conclude asking “Would the Chief Minister Sawant have taken the onus if the concerned elderly lady had died yesterday? The BJP Mahilas also should remember their earlier statements and stand by the Melauli ladies today, unless they are mere puppets of the CM.” Adv. Ashma stated that the Goa Women Forward demands that the FIRs filed by the Government should be immediately withdrawn.
