ANJUNA: Anjuna Police have registered a case following a road accident in which a 51-year-old scooter rider sustained grievous injuries and is undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.
According to police, the accident occurred on September 3 at around 2.45 pm near Café Sicily Football Ground, Anjuna, Bardez. The accused rider, identified as 24-year-old Abhijit A.S., a resident of Kollam, Kerala, was allegedly riding a Yamaha Fascino scooter bearing registration number GA-03-V-6224 from Anjuna Beach towards the Tito’s direction in a rash and negligent manner.
Police said the scooter collided with an oncoming Yamaha Fascino bearing registration number GA-03-AS-3731. The rider of the second scooter, identified as 51-year-old Manju Lamani, a resident of Gadag, Karnataka, sustained grievous injuries in the collision.
The pillion rider also suffered simple injuries, police said.
Based on a complaint lodged by Head Constable B. No. 5431 Shailesh B. Masurkar of Anjuna Police Station, a case was registered on September 7 at 4.30 pm under Sections 281, 125 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is being conducted by HC Shailesh B. Masurkar of Anjuna Police Station.
