VALPOI: Valpoi Police have registered an offence against a 43-year-old scooter rider for allegedly driving rashly and negligently and causing a collision that left a 19-year-old pillion rider grievously injured at Honda Market in Sattari.
The case was registered on September 9 at 12.32 pm based on a complaint by HC 4816 Shyam Polekar, attached to Valpoi Police Station, in connection with MV Accident No. 35/2026 dated September 3.
According to police, the accident occurred around 7.15 pm on September 3 near Honda Market when Vasim Mehboob Beig, 43, a resident of Postwada, Honda, was allegedly riding an Aprilia scooter bearing registration number GA-04-R-7747 from Wadakade Honda towards Sanquelim.
Police said the scooter was allegedly being ridden in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, and collided with an Activa scooter bearing registration number GA-04-R-4010.
Following the impact, the rider and pillion rider of the Activa fell onto the road. While the rider sustained simple injuries, the pillion rider, identified as Utkarsła Chari, 19, a resident of Kumbarkhan, Pissurlem, Sattari, suffered grievous injuries.
Further investigation is in progress with HC 4816 Shyam Polekar of Valpoi Police Station.
