PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered a case against a woman after her Mahindra Scorpio allegedly rolled downhill in reverse and crashed into a garage, damaging vehicles and a compound wall at Dona Paula.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Maria Anezia Fernandes, a resident of Good Shepherd Residence, Nagali Hills, Dona Paula. The incident occurred on July 11 at around 9.45 am.
Police said the accused, Monia Deruz, a resident of Caranzalem, was parking her Mahindra Scorpio (GA-07-C-9001) on a sloping driveway when she allegedly failed to take proper care and precaution to secure the vehicle.
As a result, the Scorpio rolled downhill in an uncontrolled reverse direction and rammed into the complainant’s garage. The vehicle then collided with a Toyota Fortuner (GA-05-D-3848), motorcycles parked inside the garage, and the compound wall, causing substantial property damage.
Based on the complaint, Panaji Police registered Crime No. 124/2026 under Sections 125 and 324(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is being carried out by HC Rajesh Yeshi of Panaji Police Station.
